How long have you been building models?
On and off since I was a kid of the 60s.
What got you started in building models?
As a child, I had an older brother who built car models. For me, it was those cool model airplane kits with spring-activated ejection seats and bombs which would fall at the press of a button (perfect for bombing army men). I found that I was pretty good at building models and unlike my best friend Doug didn't over apply that tube glue. I remember him asking me how I could build models without getting glue on everything.
As an adult- After my first child was born, I was lucky enough to have a couple of weeks of paternity leave granted. One morning I woke up out of the blue feeling a need to build a model. I hadn't built a model since I was a kid, but this was definitely a go-to-Kmart-and-buy-a-kit moment.
What’s you favorite subject to model?
Aircraft, WWI and between the wars. Over the years I've built all kinds of models including civilian vehicles, military vehicles, and figures. I'd like to get more comfortable building figures, especially 1/16th scale military.
Aany other hobbies?
I enjoy playing piano and have been studying jazz piano, sometimes seriously, for the past 8 years. It's a pretty deep subject and you can go down that rabbit hole as far as you want. I also enjoy photography, which has also been an on-again, off-again thing for me for many years.
Anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself?
that's about it.
