I've always been a big history buff so I enjoy modeling most military subjects and just browsing at photos of the subjects from back in their heyday.
Modeling in a way brings the original equipment more to "real life" for me.
I started modeling when I was pretty young, I don't even remember how old I was but I remember the first kit I built was the Monogram 1/48 P-61 Black Widow.
I've built at one time or another at least one of every 1/48 Monogram kit and 1/35 Italeri kit when I was growing up, and I could pump one out at a rate of about one a week.
Unfortunately by the time I was in high school and then off to college I ended up just collecting kits rather than building them.
My stash used to fill up half a walk-in closet and one of my spare bedroom closets but I've recently sold off the vast majority of my kits in order to just focus more on particular subjects rather than buying everything that comes up.
As you can see in my two stash photos there is now additional space again to fill up with more kits in the future......
My modeling subjects vary rather often and I tend to splurge and go and buy more kits, decals, accessories for that specific subject (or even genre/era).
I have special interest with US WW2 ground equipment used in NW Europe and all US WW2 battleships (post Pearl Harbor fits).
I'm also fascinated with US manned spaceflight, particularly the early days of Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo.
Some of my other general interests are WW1 aircraft; Fleet Air Arm aircraft in WW2; Civil War ironclads; Korean and Vietnam War aircraft; US helicopters; and WW2/Korean War nightfighters.
I have a lot of "favorites" - some particulars are the Albatros D.V; P-51 Mustang; F4U Corsair; Beaufighter; Mosquito; the V-1/V-2 weapons; AV-8 Harrier; F-14 Tomcat, A-6 and EA-6 Intruder/Prowler, and the AH-1 Cobra (particularly the Whiskey).
