This is the Tamiya Cromwell Mk.IV
British Cruiser Tank in 1/35th scale. I made a few minor
additions to what is provided in the kit including an Eduard
photoetch detail set, stainless steel wire for the antenna and
an additional tow cable and watercans from the spare parts box.
I thinned all fenders to scale thickness and drilled out the MG
barrels. The kit tracks were used an were tacked down to the
road wheels with superglue to represent "sag."
I painted the tank with Tamiya
acrylics mixed per the instructions. The kit decals were used
and represent a tank of the 1st Polish Armoured Division's HQ
Squadron. Weathering started with an oil-based black wash and
post-shading with black pastel chalk powder followed by a
clear-coat to seal the chalk. After dry-brushing with progressively
lighter shades of the base color, I applied light rust, oil,
dirt, and wear stains and marks with a combination of oil
washes, pastels chalks and colored pencils. The final step was a
coat of PolyScale flat clear. Being both well-engineered and
highly-detailed, the kit was a joy to build.
